My SMART Behavior Change Goal: To set a monthly goal to push myself to read a minimum of four books a month
Short Terms Goals are:
i. Reading for 1 hour 5 days a week
ii. Reading for 1.5 hours 5 days a week
iii. Reading for a total of 2 hours 5 days a week.

Three obstacles to my desired change (current behaviors or situations that could hamper my goal).
1. The first obstacle that I am bound to face is that of digital entertainment content like movies.
2. My busy schedule might also cause some difficulties along the way.
3. I also tend to get tired fast when I am reading a book especially if it is one that has not captivated or captured my attention.
Three strategies I will use to overcome the specific obstacles listed above:
1. I plan on setting up a timer on my entertainment devices in order to limit the amount of time I spend on them.
2. In order to maintain my attention, I believe it is best to ensure that I go over the abstract of a book in order to relate to it before purchasing it and also subscribing to a YouTube channel that recommends good reading material.
3. as much as my schedule tends to be very busy, I believe that it is best to allocate enough time to reading alone and setting up myself in a room where I will not be destructed.
Resources I will use to help me reach my behavior change goal.
a. Witness/Accountability Partner & Relationship: First and foremost, I will hold myself accountable by developing a target marker across my calendar as a means of collecting the info on the number of books/pages read per day. I also intend to use my roommate to hold me accountable as he already does so in our training and exercise program.
b. School-based resource: Since I prefer physical books, I will opt to visit the school library to attain any convenient reading material.
c. Community-based resource: For this, I believe the best option will be various local book stores.
d. A book or reputable website link: As much as I prefer hard copies, I will resign to reading a few soft copies that can be made available through Amazon since some hard copies might be too expensive or rare.
In order to make my goal more attainable, I have devised three short term goals.
Short Term Goal 1: Reading for a 1 hours 5 days a week.
Date Range: September 20th to October 3rd 2021
Reward upon Success: Take myself out for a treat at my favorite restaurant.
Short Term Goal 2: Reading for a 1.5 hours 5 days a week.
Date Range: October 4th to October 24th
Reward upon Success: Buy myself a pair of shoes
Short Term Goal 3: Reading for a total of two hours 5 days a week.
Date Range: October 25th to November 7th
Reward upon Success: Purchase an iPad Pro for reading softcopies and a pair of airpods to listen to audio books.
I intend to make a behavior change that will contribute to a healthy life. I will use the strategies and rewards I set to achieve my goals.
