Job Analysis

After watching season 7 episode 12 of the “Undercover Boss US” television show, the two job positions that were selected for analysis included the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Restaurant Cashier (Williams, 2017). To obtain knowledge and details of the job requirements and description of these positions, I conducted two interviews with four individuals two for each position and compared the responses. I also conducted an online researcher, especially with regards to the position of the Chief Executive Officer.

Chief Executive Officer

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of a CEO include making critical organizational decisions, managing the operations of the corporation, managing the team and the overall resources of the organization, and communicating with the company’s boards of directors (Reda, Reifler, & Thatcher, 2008). The CEO also provides leadership and vision, and oversees the fiscal activity of the company, including auditing, reporting, and budgeting.

Requirements

The CEO must have a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in a discipline that is relevant to the industry of practice, or an MBA. He or she is also required to have managerial experience. A CEO is also expected to have negotiation skills as well as corporate governance experience. He or she ought to understand personnel and human resources management and have the ability to establish relationships among the workforce, partners, and executives (Reda, Reifler, & Thatcher, 2008).

Restaurant Cashier

Responsibilities

The restaurant cashier is responsible for taking customer orders at the counter, receiving payment for such orders, and presenting the customers with change appropriately. The cashier also functions as the restaurant’s hostess or host. He or she also makes customer reservations where needed. In addition, the cashier also received checks in payment of food from customers and waiters or waitresses.

Requirements

To qualify for this position, one must have a minimal of a high school diploma and experience in positions that are related to being a cashier and working knowledge in restaurant settings. He or she should also have excellent computer, multitasking, and mathematical skills. Moreover, the cashier needs to be proficient in the use of any machines that are used in making transactions, including calculators and computers. A cashier should also have proper customer relation skills. Finally, he or she should be flexible and able to work continuous shifts regardless of weekends and holidays.
