Internships are essential for every college student as they open many great doors and are a

good way to get real life working experience. However, being in an internship program can be

stressful and challenging if the intern’s expectations are not met.

Being aware of the challenges, can help interns find ways to handle them and to progress in

their program and careers later on.

 Here we are listing FOUR common internship challenges you may face during your

internship period. You are requested to provide a solution for each: (each answer for

25pts)

Example of a Challenge:

Uncooperative Supervisor

How much you learn from your internships depend largely on your supervisor. If your supervisor takes you seriously and helps you learn, your internship can be truly productive. But on the contrary, if they are uncooperative, it can be one of the greatest internship challenges for you to face.

Solution: If your supervisor isn’t much into spreading knowledge, you will probably need to extract it out of them. Make a list of questions and doubts and ask them in one go as bothering them frequently can also change their attitude towards you.

CHALLENGE ONE:

Not enough tasks

Imagine, that there’s not enough work assigned to you. You’re bored, underutilized, strumming your fingers at your desk, and tempted to check your social media account. What would you do?

CHALLENGE TWO:

Your work is not used

Your supervisor gives you a project that you finally feel will make use of your college education. But it ends up never being published, getting lost on their desk. Not only is this frustrating because of your seemingly wasted time and effort, but it makes you less motivated for projects in the future. What would you do?

The task given is not what you expected
