Any slide with a RED title indicates a bad slide!

Text

Place as much informachon on one slide as humanly possible. You wouldn’t want to jip your audience about of any important informachon they might need so use a seemingly never ending paragraph without much puntuation because puntuation wastes room that you could be using to share more of your vast knowledge with the audience Long-wordy paragraphs are the best thing to do so that peeple can understand what we are trying to say. Who reely cares about speling and grammer, people will kno what we are talking about and listen to us any way

Text

All bullets should appear at once

No more than 7-10 lines per slide

Phrases and keywords instead of complete sentences

Bullet points must have parallel construction

Check spelling, grammar, and punctuation

Concision is key, brevity is best!

Charts and Diagrams

A survey taken of college students proved that 57% of all college students have used PowerPoint mostly as an assignment in school

Another 17% say that they have found it useful in the workplace

15% say that they have used it to present to their club or organization on their campus

The other 11% say that they only had seen it in the classroom during a professor’s lecture

Charts and Diagrams

When possible, use charts/ tables to present statistics

Font

Different fonts are pretty

The bigger the better

ALL CAPS GETS THE AUDIENCE’S ATTENTION!!!!!!!!

Italicize anything and everything that seems important-which is everything!

Font

Sans serif fonts show up better on the screen (serif fonts are blurry when projected)

Always use a font size of 24 points or more

Limit of 2 fonts per presentation

Find a font that suits your message

Italic fonts are not attractive-use sparingly

Never use all caps

Color

Lots of colors makes the presentation exciting

Make all colors clash so that it’s readable from a distance

Make your information stand out in bold pinks and blues

Dark color text on dark color backgrounds are awesome because they match

Color

Colors are key because they set the mood

Have colors that complement each other

Dark colors on light backgrounds are the best

Avoid colors that don’t provide enough contrast (such as red on dark blue)

The appropriate colors can make your presentation pop

Images

A variety of pictures will impress the audience

Use both real and cartoon images to give the slides some variety

Who cares about pixels, it still gets our point across even if it is blurry

So what if Chuck Norris is irrelevant to our topic…..it’s Chuck Norris.

Use pictures to fill up any and all extra space!

Images

Always have good quality images (not blurry)

Have images convey ideas instead of text

Do not choose images that distract the audience

Do not clutter your slide with images

Always have images that portray your point

Consistency in graphics

Backgrounds

Always have a different background on each slide, it keeps the audience interested

Always change colors of text so that it can be read

The more colorful the better

If it’s blurry who cares, its still pretty

Background

Stick to one background for all slides (pick a color scheme and stick to it)

Patterned backgrounds can reduce readability of text

If a picture is the background, use one with the most amount of pixels

Some designs are too busy and distracting

Choose your background carefully!

Animations and Transitions

Flying in words in many different animations are exciting!!

Each slide can have a different animation which will add tons of variety

Use the longest animation to take up more time

Use a different transition so that there is movement between each slide

Sounds makes presentations way better

Animations and Transitions

Use minimal animations (one for the header and one for text/images)

A different animation for each text can make the presentation too distracting

Use a basic dissolve or fade

Avoid flashy transitions that distract from the message

Be consistent

Do not use sounds at all

Conclusion

Remember…

Concision is key, and brevity is best

Use charts when presenting statistics

Use a font that supports your mission

Incorporate contrasting colors

Have consistency in your images

Use simple background themes

Eschew excessive supplements
