How Social Media Have Changed Pop Culture.

Pop culture may be referred to as either mass culture or pula culture and perhaps be described as a generally famous and recognized way of life by a greater percentage of the societal members (Isa, 2016). Wholesomely the society understands popular culture as a set of beliefs, objects, and practices that are either more prevalent or dominant within it at any given time. Worth mentioning is that in the modern west, pop culture is explained as the outcomes of a given culture or simply cultural products such as music, fashion, dance music, literature, dance, television, radio, cyber-culture, and film that are utilized or consumed by the majority of the human population.

Imperatively to note is that popular culture is a culture of people that is majorly determined by several factors but mainly by the manner in which members of the society interact among themselves one –on- on or using deferent mediums of communication in their daily activities (Isa, 2016). Other than the few examples of popular culture mentioned above, in some societal members such culture includes dressing style, greeting rituals, use of slang language, some kinds of food people get used to eating, and other popular culture that is formed as a result of too much use of new technology more so the social media or mass media. In a nutshell, social media is a form of media with varied ways of mass accessibility (Brainly, 2020) 

Since pop culture is a way of life, it has dramatically impacted many people, especially the young generation that dwells within the entertainment mainstream, such as ideas, fashion books, designs, popular music, games, and social media trends. The mass media is highly encouraged by the mass media to gain popularity in the society whereby individuals can interact in their daily activities by using the newly introduced technologies (Brainly, 2020). As per the recent records and research on pop culture, many people are able to communicate, share and transmit ideas throughout the world by using the power of social media from which location or the distance that might be separating them (Devitt, 2013)). Social media is common to pop culture, cutting across the whole world, and cannot be avoided as we live in a digital error.

With the rate at which technology is advancing, especially in various platforms of communications and internet-based services such as Google, Facebook, and tweeter, a more significant part of popular culture has drastically changed for the better part of it. Improved technology has revolutionized popular culture in several ways, some positive, some negative, over the past few decades (Devitt, 2013). Currently, most of the people within the society are able to access. Pop culture has undergone a lot of changes within the past century. The development of more advanced media forms such as radios, televisions, movies, and the most recent internet services has significantly impacted pop culture.

Among the many media forms of communication, the Internet has taken the platform of a greater share of transforming pop culture. Radio was the first media that participated positively in moving pop culture through the one-way street for almost a century. The radio was utilized by many of the entertainers to disseminate messages to the consumers, and by so doing, the market for pop culture grew and expanded a lot (Grant, 2019). With the Internet in place, means, and ways through which pop culture was perceived and shared among society members, it has massively and wholly changed how information is transmitted or shared, which has perhaps turned the entire side of the pop culture.

It is good to understand that social media has increased the manner and speed at which society members share pop culture through improved ways of mingling and interaction (Grant, 2019). Perhaps there has been some level of interaction between the perpetrators of pop culture and pop culture fans. Traditionally, many of the pop culture fans normally attended live music concerts and fashion shows, and they were granted the opportunity to see the latest happenings of the pop culture. Although much has not changed from what many used to do in traditional pop culture, the Internet has proved to prove an avenue for having access to virtual attendance of such pop-culture scenes and helping the fans provide instant feedback (Grant, 2019). Social media has dealt away with the one-way street and perhaps introduced the two-way level of interaction among the pop culture fans and perpetrators.

Worth noting is that Social media is composed of several online communication channels that promote faster communication through the sharing of thoughts, knowledge, skills, and collaboration (Greenwood, 2019). It is a computer-based technology that facilitates easy sharing of ideas and information through virtual network platforms where the users electronically gain quick access to varied opportunities. Through it, individuals can share different types of content such as documents, photos, personal details, academic material, as well as videos.

It should have known that social media is the most convenient and popular means of sharing and exchanging ideas that are deployed by the majority of the population as it can be accessed through simple devices like Smartphones, tablets, or even computers (Trier-Bieniek, 2020). Most useful and widely used social media avenues include Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, as well as Instagram, which have been termed as the most addictive platforms that have, to a larger threat to replace other means of communication such as making calls and use of text messages.

Social media within the pop culture arena has positively and negatively affected members of society and perhaps, in one way or the other, changed their lifestyles. Some of the advantageous impacts of social media on pop culture are that it has facilitated communication through the provision of various platforms. Social media has established and created a common group in which many people are able to interact with others from different backgrounds, different nations, and religious beliefs. Through social media, pop culture has expanded more so among the youths who can share and discuss various issues affecting their life while in their comfort zone by utilizing button touch technology to search, suggest and comment on various life-related issues without bothered to travel and physically meet their fellows (Greenwood, 2019). This aspect has helped society members interact leaner freely and mingle effectively and efficiently without wasting much of their resources.

Perhaps social media usage saves time since there is no traveling from one region to another. Social media has provided an avenue where members develop a sense of belonging to a particular group. It has enabled many individuals to share documents, videos, as well as academic material over the Internet to disseminate and communicate a specific content of great importance to pop culture fans (Greenwood, 2019). Traditionally sharing such documents, files, and videos was too expensive and unreliable to achieve thanks to social media's positive contributions to pop culture expansion.

As part of the pop culture, marketing activities have been made much easier and oversimplified as the pop culture's proponents can efficiently transact via social media. This has been beneficial to the business community as it facilitates the easy spread of news about a particular brand, easy to make adverts on upcoming and current business products, and reduces time wastage on customer movement since home deliveries can be made without much problem. Social media has further boosted pop culture in marketing, as most business transactions have been channeled virtually through online purchases and payments using various modes. This aspect has helped in the growth of the economy. Besides that, the social network has facilitated an easy way of contacting our friends and relatives, helping every member always keep in touch and maintain better ways of getting frequent updates as they b take place.

Additionally, members of the pop culture are able to upgrade their knowledge through social media virtual meetings and discussions whose main aim may be projected to problem-solving or perhaps leaning (Greenwood, 2019). Social media has helped many people who get access to it, more ordinary citizens in making appropriate political decisions while voting for their political leaders. Politicians use social media to express their thoughts and political agendas, thus helping the members of the community always keep in touch with what is happening in the political arena.

Although social media has been of great use in the transformation of pop culture, it has also impacted society negatively. It has been costly to acquire devices such as smartphones, tablets, or computers to access social media platforms through the Internet. Secondly, purchasing data bundles or installing Wi-Fi services that facilitate communication among the pop cutler members has also been termed as a costly part of using social media. The Smartphones and tablets used by most individuals require a lot of cellular data bundles to access the website (Greenwood, 2019). Thirdly use of social media in the transformation of pop culture has affected most people, particularly the youths, as they have become addicts to the services offered through the Internet.

Many people waste much of their productive and valuable time just glued on their internet-based devices, doing many things where many of them are not of any value to their life. Too much overuse of the internet and social media platforms has drastically reduced the level of physical interaction and socialization among many society members. Most people have only become used to chat through online platforms, thereby reducing the level of physical bonding in society (Isa, 2016). Overuse of social media platforms has perhaps led to conflicts in society since some individuals feel that they have been ignored and left out by highly dependent on the use internet (Isa, 2016). Finally, social media has made it easy for many people to get to know more about other peoples' personal affairs or details, and this exposure may turn out to life challenging as everybody can access one's vital and confidential information such as banking details, among others.

In conclusion, the social network has dramatically changed the social life of pop culture proponents. It has provided more insight into social media and thereby helps an individual get updated on the world's happenings (Lessard, 2018). It is a culture that cannot be avoided since the world has many technological and advancement in almost all spheres of human life. Innovations have brought with it many improvements, more so in the social network platforms in order to facilitate easy and quick communication over online services.
