Luke portrays discipleship in his gospel as an act of how people should commend themselves as servants of God. He says that they should serve Him in much endurance, in hardships, in afflictions, in beatings, in distress, in imprisonment, in labor, distress, and hunger (Hull, 2014). The current context of my Christian community can benefit a lot from what look explained. Christians should understand that, they must make a decision concerning their values and priorities. They should learn to abandon some things in the pursuit of others, if they want to be real servants of God. It doesn't mean that all men should leave wealth to follow Christ, but they should forsake loving money.
Luke explains that life is full of choices and therefore, Christians should choose what to pursue in life, keeping in mind that decisions have both blessings and their prices to pay. To be a faithful servant of God, they should understand that the gospel of Jesus is the good news of a gift, the gift which is of eternal life. The value of this gift is infinitive and to have it, is worth more than anything else (Hull, 2014). The price Christians need to pay is acknowledging their sins and then put their trust in God. They should also forsake all the other gods and follow Him. God grants that we all become His disciples and follow Him more than anything else. Luke explained that the greatest of all blessings is having intimacy with Christ. Therefore, to be a true servant of God they should also understand that it's not the pursuit of riches which is bad, but when they pursue riches which are untruthful.
