Keeping the seduction alive and the sparks flying can been done with the occasional flirty message, and naughty promises made can be joyfully fulfilled when you meet! Remember, it's only geography and logistics.
My partner's work has taken him to another city. How do I bridge the distance?- Sheeba, 33, NEW DELHI
If you have a good relationship, distance is only a matter of geography and logistics, as a wise person I know said. It is true. Plus, he's only gone to another city, not another continent. You can meet each other easily enough on vacations and the like. Many relationships have survived far worse! It will not serve either of you to act as if your life is in suspension when you are apart. Being temporarily apart may even make your relationship stronger-you will each have time and space to continue growing as persons in your own right and that is very important for a relationship to flourish. You may find that when you meet again, you enjoy each other even more.
Focus on your relationship not just surviving, but thriving. This requires you both to nourish it, not only when you do meet each other, but also consistently-even when you are not physically together. The main thing is to stay connected emotionally. To be secure in the knowledge that the other person is there for you and while they may be called away by work or family or for any other reason, you are one of the most central things in their life. Practical suggestions: communicate about the things that matter; let your partner know what's going on with you (not with a text message every 10 minutes, please!); meet whenever you can, and before you part plan the next trip so that you both have a sense of 'the future'. Stay centred in what you have without wasting time and energy fretting about imagined What ifs.
Keeping the seduction alive and the sparks flying can been done with the occasional flirty message, and naughty promises made can be joyfully fulfilled when you meet! Remember, it's only geography and logistics.
