Assessment Brief:

Students will select a topic (based on topics discussed in week 1 – 5) and will be required to

prepare and present a 20-minute discussion presentation based on their critical analysis of

the topic. The choice of topic is left to the student but discussion with the lecturer is necessary

on topic selection. The topic will need to show linkages to asset management and the chosen

topic area. For example, a topic on ‘Target Market’ might be selected as the presentation topic.

Students will need to consider here what aspect of target market they would like to refer to in

their presentation and how this topic area connects with asset management. The importance

of meeting the need of a target market might be the discussion point for the presentation

whereby meeting this need will most likely increase the value of the asset and long term

profitability for the owners.

1. For ON-CAMPUS students: You are required to upload one copy of the PowerPoint presentation being used to the learning portal two days prior to the week 6 in-class presentation.

For ONLINE students: You will be required to submit PowerPoint slides AND a video/audio of

your presentation (film yourself presenting either using a webcam or record an audio of your

presentation and attach it to your PowerPoint slides). Your online facilitator will provide further

details on which discussion form your presentation will need to be uploaded to.

The presentation must be submitted in compliance with the following:

3. One soft copy of the PowerPoint presentation being used must be uploaded on the learning portal. It needs be uploaded to Blackboard two days prior to week 06 presentation for Face-to-Face classes.

A minimum of 6 different references must be utilised for this task (minimum 4 academic & minimum 2 other sources), using in-text referencing and a reference list at the end of your PowerPoint slides submitted. References to ‘wikipedia’ or to similar unsubstantiated sources will not be accepted. Follow the APA referencing system.

5. In the event of serious illness or unusual circumstances, a student may apply for special consideration in accordance with the rules and regulations governing this application, but it is important that such requests be made as soon as the circumstance is known.
