Each essay should consist of three major sections: 1) Cultural/historical contexts, 2) Background or history of the genre, and 3) Musical analysis(for the outline, mention specific musical elements or techniques that you might look for in your selected genres/musical examples).
-Only a brief summary (1-2 sentences) of the major sections is needed here.
-Use a standard bibliographic format (MLA, APA, etc.) for listing your references
-You are not limited to these sources once you move on to writing your paper.
-Any source (including books and scholarly articles) may be accessed from an online website.
-You may not use your textbook as a book source, although the bibliographies included with the textbook include extensive references that may be of use for your research. You are welcome to use another (different) world music textbook.
-Do not use Wikipedia as a primary source, although you are welcome to use the articles for background information. You can also use sources that are cited in the footnotes of Wikipedia articles.
