HW 2 RESEARCH QUESTION, HYPOTHESIS, VARIABLES, & DEFINITIONS 3

Stress and Eating Habits

Homework # 2

_/ 2pts

Topic: Stress and Unhealthy eating

Description of topic: __/5pts

According to research in the past and today, stress has caused many issues for college students and unhealthy eating is very common amongst stressed students. Stress can cause students to make unhealthy decisions and create bad eating habits. Unhealthy eating habits lead to obesity, diabetes, and other health risks. M.S. Tryon, Rashel Decant, and K.D. Laugero (2013) states that chronic psychological stress exposure has been linked to a number of adverse health conditions, including obesity and is now acknowledge as a public health concern. Jessica Bennett, Geoffrey Greene, Barcott Donna Schwartz (2013) states that The American college Health Association (2009) reported that in 2009, 20% of college students were considered overweight and 11% obese. Stress has become more common in students throughout the years and unhealthy eating habits have been used in response to the daily stress students are experiencing. College students should have knowledge of the affect that unhealthy eating can have on their body, mind, and overall well-being. Although school and life can become stressful, there are other ways to respond to stress, for example, exercising or choosing healthier food instead of unhealthy food.

Summary

The leader of the group was Erika Ramirez and she did her best to keep us all involved. She made sure that we gathered more articles that would benefit our research topic. As a group, we discussed our topic in depth and we all came together with the, hypothesis, group question, variables and the questions. We were able to meet as a group for HW #2 and that was very helpful. As a group it does become difficult to meet since we all have different schedules, but we made sure to gather on Monday to complete our assignment. One of our weakness was agreeing on our research question, but we were able to come to an agreement and our strengths although we may disagree is we always come together to agree. As a group we are able to discuss and come to an agreement without arguments.
