Leadership as Service; Reflection Paper Guidelines

The purpose of this final reflective paper is to look back at what you have learned during the past weeks and to reflect on it while applying it to your current and future leadership. This is not a book review! It is your personal analysis, synthesis and reflection of WHAT you have learned in this course and HOW you will use the knowledge in practicing leadership from a Jesus based servant-oriented lens.

Below are details about the structure and content of this paper. Be sure to read through this carefully, constructing your paper as to answer the questions asked in each section.

Plagiarism, ghostwriting and sloppy APA adherence are simply unacceptable for a 3rd year University course. If you are struggling with your assignments or do not understand the requirements, it is your responsibility to get clarity and assistance from your professor or writing coach before the assignment is due. DETAILS:

This paper is 7 - 9 pages long. – 2% per page deductions for too many or not enough pages.

Title Page – APA format.

I. Introduction : ½ - 1 page – outlines what the paper is going to discuss.

II. Main Body of Paper : 5 - 6 pages

You must include the following:

· 1. Theory:

· Choose Four (4) of the Course Learning Outcomes listed below that has impacted you and which will better your servant leadership skills now and in your future.

· You must only use LDRS 300 course material or personal experiences in your as sources for your writing or examples. Sources not used in LDRS 300 will not be accepted.

Course Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge and its application

a. Develop an understanding of Jesus as a model leader who served God and others.

b. Articulate a personal understanding of leadership-as-service based on His model.

2. Cognitive complexity

c. Examine the service qualities of the leadership pattern modeled by the life of Jesus.

d. Develop a comprehensive approach to applying these qualities in terms of four domains of leadership, including the leader’s character (Heart), assumptions (Head), behaviors (Hands), and disciplines (Habits);

3. Inter-personal and Intra-personal wellness

e. Develop a holistic awareness of how to serve both self (that is, as practices of self-care) and others by living out the patterns of leading as an act of service as modeled by Jesus.

4. Spiritual Formation

f. Identify the values and character qualities Jesus modeled as a leader and evaluate them in relation to your own personal values and how you live out your values as a leader.

5. Social Responsibilities and Global Engagement

g. Develop a commitment to a service leadership approach characterized by the informed and ethical reasoning, respect for the dignity and rights of all persons, and respect for creation and its sustainable use and care exemplified by Jesus and his way of leading.

6. Leadership

h. Develop an understanding of how leaders can serve others and build cultures of service to others within and outside their organizations when applying the model of Jesus as leader.

· You must Reference at least 4 different sources used in LDRS 300 Leadership as Service.

· Since this is a reflection paper on the content of LDRS 300, you MUST include references from the sources we used in this class.

· The three textbooks used in this LDRS 300 classes.

· Lectures and Classes from LDRS 300.

· Assigned Readings in Moodle for LDRS 300.

· Bible

· Group Project Research material.

· Other academic sources are permitted to reinforce a thought or theory but do not replace the three textbooks used in this course.

· Outside peer reviewed academic sources as well as published authors may be used to support your writing but are not to replace the three textbooks used in this course.

· However, blogs, social media outlets, Wikipedia, Buzzfeed, Dictionaries, etc. are NOT acceptable sources for references.

FORMAT:

Using APA Style (7th Edition) for paper formatting and references, pay attention to the following:

· 12pt font, Times New Roman, double spaced, 2.54 cm margins.

· Include page numbers, references and title page.

· Use subtitles throughout paper to organize ideas use APA formatting.

· Each idea/ concept or theory you present must have a reference from the texts, lectures, PowerPoints or assigned readings.

Your paper will not be graded if the conditions outlined above are not met.
