Homeless in the Community

The problem that needs to be addressed in San Antonio TX is homelessness. This is a social problem being experienced globally and as the residents of San Antonio TX the problem has been on the rampant. It is estimated that the homeless community stands at 2,872 persons (William and Piedad, 2019). The problem in the community because homelessness has led to the growth of some of the ills in the society including an increase in crime rate, unemployment, increased substance and drug abuse, alcoholism and mental health conditions. The problem should also be addressed in order to improve the economic condition of the region through improving the state of living.

The problem of homelessness is important as it will look are the living conditions of the homeless who are subjected to the harsh weather conditions while living on the streets. This if not checked would lead to death of the people or an increase in diseases. The problem can escalate if it goes unchecked as the number of homeless people increases and social problems also increase. Those involved in coming up with the solutions to the problem include the community members, the local leadership and outsiders like Jacqueline Novogratz and Chef Chad Houser. Jacqueline Novogratz and Chef Chad Houser are implementing initiatives that will ensure people learn basic skills and talents that will facilitate the changes in the community. This initiative ensures that the community members are empowered and have skills are they try to give back to the community which in the long run will reduce the number of homeless people. The initiative requires professionals who will volunteer and be able to teach the homeless while giving them hope for the future.
