Students will be expected to post their first initial discussion board posting by Friday of each week. Discussion posts will be graded and late submissions will be assigned a late penalty in accordance with the late penalty policy found in the syllabus. This week concentrates on the importance of training and what appropriate training might include. Discuss the following relating to proper training:

Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 400–600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas:

· How would you conduct training if your team was not the lead agency in a homeland security environment? Explain.

· Is it important to implement NIMS and ICS concepts into everyday issues that are associated with emergency management? Why or why not?

· Regardless of your response to the previous question, how would you accomplish this?

· In an environment where budgets are growing smaller, especially for training issues, how would you stretch your training dollars?

· Discuss creative solutions.

· How do you feel about convincing your boss to attend training?

· How would you accomplish this?

· Describe your thoughts and actions if you were conducting a critique after a relatively minor incident in which nobody was injured but your agency caused property damage and you have to pay the bill.

Responses to Other Students: Respond to at least 2 of your fellow classmates with at least a 100-word reply about their Primary Task Response regarding items you found to be compelling and enlightening. To help you with your discussion, please consider the following questions:
