INDIVIDUAL WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT

Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation is extremely important in any organization.

Different approaches are used to accomplish this task.

One approach is to force compliance through established standards, rigorous inspections, and implementing harsh punishment for failing to meet the established standards.

Another approach is to encourage self-reliance by providing the workplace parties with the information and resources necessary to monitor and enhance safety in the workplace.

What do you consider to be the advantages and disadvantages of each these approaches?

In your opinion, what is the appropriate balance between enforcement and encouragement, and as the manager/employer in an organization, how would you promote and achieve this balance?

Length: Content should be 1200-1600 words in length .

A penalty of 5% will be considered for submissions exceeding or short of the target length.

This does not include your bibliography or other reference materials.

Style: Assignment style is left entirely to the discretion of the student, however format needs to follow APA citation. Please refer to the posted document in the course homepage regarding APA methods for further information or consult with the Professor.

This is an individual written assignment. All material submitted must be original … I will not accept copies of policies, programs, etc., from the internet, existing companies, etc.

Marks: Your assignment will be evaluated using the posted rubric.

The assignment is worth 15% of your overall mark in this course.

Lateness: As per Fanshawe College Policy, late assignments will receive a deduction of 20% per day to a maximum of 4 days. Assignments received on the 5th day will receive a mark of “0”.
