2018 Holiday season
The Secret Service estimates that it recovers 20 to 30 credit card skimmers from gas pumps every week, and each device has information from about 80 cards on it. But by the time the agency recovers the devices, scammers have already begun using the cards. (Caughill, 2018)
Anthrax letters after September 11th Attacks
Seven days after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, anonymous letters laced with deadly anthrax spores began arriving at media companies and congressional offices. Over the ensuing months, five people died from inhaling anthrax and 17 others were infected after exposure. (NPR, 2011)
