two very different primary sources depicting early interactions between Europeans and indigenous Americans. _Broken Spears_ presents the Spanish campaign from the perspective of the Aztec, while Diaz gives us the Spanish perspective. In either case, the story ends the same way: Montezuma is dead, the Aztec are conquered, and the Spanish are wealthy and victorious. 

How did the two sides describe each other? What stands out in those descriptions? What does Diaz find striking about the Aztec and their incredible city? How does he explain what the Spanish do?
