    Classmate’s post  The Portuguese were among the first to explore new places in the 1400's. They took the

lead because of strong government support of exploration. Prince Henry was Portugal's

most enthusiastic supporter. He knew that exploration led to wealth and other great

finds. Henry was determined to find wealth and spread the Christian faith. At the time of

Henry's death, the Portuguese had established many trading posts along Africa's shore.

About 40 years later, a Portuguese explorer named Vasco da Gama founded a rout to

India. This rout spanned 27,000 miles.

I agree with some of the reasons Portugal started their exploration. It is not bad that

they explored for wealth, just as long as they don't become greedy (which is why they

were exploring). I do agree that it was good for them to explore in order to spread

Christian faith. The biggest problem I have with them exploring is their attempt to gain

slaves​.       W4D5 select 1 of the following topics  1. Zheng He - he was influential not only in China but in the rest of the

continent of Asia, the Indian Ocean, and even beyond. Do some investigation
