Hi Marwa, Your ‘similarity score’ for your Module 3 essay is coming in at 58%. Please see your essay attached. You’ll need to reduce this significantly. Anything above 25% is deemed unacceptable and would be considered a failed attempt, so I am writing with a few hints on how to reduce this score. • Use your own words. Paraphrase, re-word and re-write some of these ideas • Even better, use your own experience. Answer the question in relation to your experience and you will find a natural voice/tone for your essay. • If you need to directly reference something, make sure you cite the reference correctly. Use “quotation marks” and then give a full reference. • Make sure your references/sources are relevant and recent; and you should aim to have at least 10 sources for these essays. Don’t pad out your reading lists/bibliographies with sources you haven’t used in the essays. • Referencing guide – you can use Harvard/Vancouver referencing – choose one, use it correctly and remain consistent. I’ve attached a Harvard Reference Guide for you here • Read the question, and answer it. Avoid tangents and unnecessary information. If there are more than one parts to the essay, look at where marks are allocated and answer accordingly. • Neaten your essay – use one font/size and use headings/sub-headings to signpost your ideas to the reader. The last piece of advice – go back and re-watch the Academic Writing session from the Induction Week (available under Resources) I’ll grant you an extension for one week until Monday 19th July to address this & resubmit the essay.
