Course Project Project Instructions
The Higher Ed. Course Project has been broken down into 4 parts. Each part builds to the completed Course Project. The topic you select during Module/Week 2 should be the topic for all parts of this assignment. Please review all 4 parts before beginning part 1.
· Course Project: Part 1 – Journal Analysis Instructions
You will write an essay (400–600 words) in which you compare 3 current (5 years or less) scholarly journal articles with different points of view on a challenge/problem related to higher education. The analysis should be approached from a leadership perspective. The journal analysis will include a title page, a reference page, and follow current APA format. Your analysis must thoroughly interpret and examine the articles for perspective, validity, and significance of the findings. You should support your discussion with relevant facts, arguments, examples, and details from your review of article; your analysis should be well-reasoned, indicating substantial breadth and depth of thinking. There must be a clearly identified discussion section in which you describe the practical application to the broader industry of higher education at large. You must identify relevant scriptural principles and perspectives from a biblical worldview, including at least 1 relevant Bible verse.
Course Project: Part 1 is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 2.
· Course Project: Part 2 – Media Analysis Instructions
You will compare coverage of your selected higher education topic in 3-4 different types of sources (newspapers, magazines, academic journals, books, professional association websites, videos, etc.). You should determine what perspectives are present or absent, and assess sources for bias.
This assignment must be 400–600 words and requires citations from 3-4 media sources. This media analysis will include a title page, a reference page, and should be in current APA format. Your analysis must thoroughly interpret and examine the media information for perspective, validity, and significance of the perspectives presented. You should support your discussion with relevant facts, arguments, examples, and details from your review of article; your analysis should be well-reasoned, indicating substantial breadth and depth of thinking. Compare and contrast media coverage of the topic in relation to the research articles analyzed in Course Project Part 1. You must identify relevant scriptural principles and perspectives from a biblical worldview, including at least 1 relevant Bible verse. In addition to submitting Part 2 of the Course Project at the end of Module/Week 4, you must integrate your findings in Part 3-4 of the Course Project.
Course Project: Part 2 is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 4.
· Course Project: Part 3 – Strategies for Improvement Instructions
You will identify 3-4 improvement strategies that focus on the challenge/problem addressed in Course Project Parts 1-2. This assignment must be 400-600 words, follow APA guidelines, and include a title and reference page. Your improvement strategies should be research based and you must include at least one scholarly source to support each improvement strategy. Discuss any moral/ethical considerations, impact on diverse student groups, potential impact on the campus community, etc. Allocation of resources required to implement the strategies should be addressed including estimated costs and funding sources. Strategies can be applicable to an individual institution or the broader industry of higher education at large.
Course Project: Part 3 is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 6.
· Course Project: Part 4 – PowerPoint Presentation Instructions
You will create a PowerPoint presentation that should include: (1) a brief outline of the topic and why it is relevant, (2) a description of the opportunities and challenges, (3) examples of the current status of the problem/challenge, (4) a description of your recommendations for improvement, (5) a conclusion highlighting the impact (positive and/or negative) this may have on higher education. Additionally, you must type a script in the notes section to align with the PowerPoint for a 15-minute presentation to a college/university constituent group. Incorporate the sources previously used in Parts 1–3 of the Course Project and include 15-20 slides.
Course Project: Part 4 is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 7.
