Habitat for Humanity of Brevard County

Habitat for Humanity of Brevard County is a fundamental organization that seeks to provide decent houses to the residents. The organization collaboratively works with the Habitat for Humanity International which is a nonprofit organization headquartered at Georgia to oversee the construction of decent housing facilities across the fifty states in the United States and over seventy countries across the world (Habitat.org). The vision of Habitat for Humanity is typical to partner with people and families when building decent and affordable homes while still establishing self- reliance, stability, and strength. In Brevard County, the Habitat for Humanity organization helps the communities living around to improve or build a place they can call home (Brevardhabitat.com). Just like the other Habitat for Humanity located in various locations, they work with volunteers to pay the clients an affordable mortgage.

HFH of Brevard County offers various important activities to individuals especially the low- income earners including initiating new constructions of houses that are decent and affordable. They renovate some of the existing homes in urban areas and assist the locals to repair and improve their homes. The availability of Habitat’s advocacy in the organization facilitates raising awareness to the targeted individuals who are either clients or donators wishing to volunteer and support the mission of the organization. In fostering the improvement of the main activities of the organization, the HFH of Brevard County targets students as one of the primary volunteers. A critical organization that can be compared with the initiatives offered by the HFH for Brevard County is the Health Leads organization that allows physicians and nurses to prescribe nutritious foods to the patients necessitating them to stay healthy. The organization works to create a healthy culture and eliminate a sickly society (Health Leads). The organization works with well-trained college students acting as advocates to connect patients and families with the basic resources that they often need as explained by Rebecca Onie in a Ted Talk (Onie).

The organization has an accessible website displaying a call to action to the viewers and this creates an urge for the site visitors to get involved, donate or even join the volunteer programs meant to support the main mission. The website displays the contact function to enable viewers to contact the customer service in case they require any kind of help. The website targets the students by incorporating fascinating designs characterized by stories and imagery that help to tell the story of the organization along with their cause. The organization partners with high schools and universities who aid in volunteering activities to help the homeowners to build their decent homes. A critical aspect is a partnership enabled by the Campus Chapter that is initiated and lead by high school and college campuses (Brevardhabitat.com). In partnership with the Habitat and homeowners, Campus chapter helps to build and rehabilitate homes, they raise funds to support the activities, leads students to advocate for affordable housing and help increase awareness and call for action that initiates the necessary change. Besides, Campus Chapter educates the fellow students on the various campuses and the local communities regarding the mission and work of Habitat for the community.

One such organization is the Un Techo Para Mi Pais, which is a Latin American non- profit that works by mobilizing youth volunteers to necessitate the elimination of extreme poverty affecting many individuals across the region. The firm also relies on volunteers and donations from the well-wishers. The organization targets the high school and college students who wish to help the vulnerable communities to get their housing needs who can effectively do this by dedicating their free time to establish emergency houses for the communities. The organization also targets donations from individuals and companies who intend to contribute to solving the housing problems for the communities through donations (Techo.org). The website of this organization easily visualizes the benefit of participating in this initiative where there are happy students having fun when collaboratively helping the low-income families.
