Hexapod

Hexapod robots have strong abilities to adapt the terrain and have redundancy in the legs, so they can go on carrying out jobs in the case of losing some legs. They are suit for tasks which have strict demands for independency and reliability such as spying in the wild, searching underwater and exploring the outer space.

The hexapod robots have three main systems, which are control system, sensing system, actuation system. The subsystems include a drive system, a mechanical structure system, a sensory system, a control system, human-machine exchange system and a robot-environment exchange system. As for the components, there are power, sensors, mechanical legs, transmission, hardware, program and so on.

The control system is like the “brain” of the hexapod, including the program and the hardware. The function is to control the executing mechanism of the hexapod according to the operation instruction program of the hexapod and the signal feedback from the sensor, so that it can complete the specified movement and function.

The sensing system The sensing system is composed of sensors. Its function is to obtain the information of the hexapod internal and external environment and feed it back to the control system. The actuation system of hexapod includes the fuselage , legs and walking mechanism. Each part has several degrees of freedom, thus constituting a multi-degree of freedom mechanical system.

Of course, there are motors that power the Hexapod to move, they use Servo Motor to power them, there are six of them, the voltage are 3V to 6V, it can power the Hexapod by 0.12 sec / 60° (4.8 V) ,it is pretty impressive for a small robot.
