Determining whether a workplace is healthy is important because it helps to estimate the workplace’s ability of communication, respect, and collaboration. This paper will describe the results of the Clark Healthy Workplace Assessment, describe the civility of the workplace, and give an example of incivility at the workplace.

After completion of the Clark Healthy Workplace Assessment, the workplace was rated as healthy with a score of 82. The areas that recorded highest scores were the areas of sharing the mission, vision, and trust, as well as the areas of transparent communication and employee wellness. The areas that recorded lower scores were provision of competitive salaries, benefits, and other rewards. Most areas scored ratings of 5 and 4 which is classified as moderately healthy in the Clark Healthy Workplace Inventory.

The workplace has a high level of civility. This is because the workplace exhibits behaviors that help in the preservation of the norms for mutual respect among the members of the organization (Gabriel et al.,2018). The organization also has behaviors that show deep concern and care for others which is characteristic of civility. As a result, the high level of civility has resulted into a higher degree of commitment and productivity in the organization. Another proof of civility at the workplace is how every member of the organization is given the opportunity to present their ideas and provide input. This makes them feel appreciated and the work flow becomes peaceful (Clark, 2015). The organization also encourages ethical behavior which is a backbone of civility at the workplace.

However, an example of an instance of incivility is described below. The incidence involves three workers who were gossiping and spreading unfounded accusations about another employee. This was uncivil because it ruined the reputation of the employee at the workplace. The manager suspended the three employees and asked that they submit an official apology to the victim employee. Gossiping at the workplace at the workplace is usually described as uncivil because it creates a hostile working environment (Kerber, Woith, Jenkins, & Astroth, 2015). The members become enemies with each other which negatively impacts their teamwork and collaboration. This results to a decreased productivity at the workplace.

A healthy environment is important in promoting collaboration, respect, and effective communication. A workplace that is healthy has high levels of civility. Civility at the workplace is important because it promotes commitment and productivity.
