Health Stat
For the second SLP, using the data that you collected for the Module 1 SLP, please do the following:
1. Calculate the mean, median, mode, variance, and standard deviation of the measurements taken in Module 1 SLP. Show your work and be sure to express each value in units.
2. Discuss which measure of central tendency you think most accurately describes the variable that you measured. Provide a thorough explanation.
3. Describe the spread/distribution of your data. Be sure to describe the variance of distribution and the concept of standard deviation as a measure of dispersion in your response.
4. Conduct a scholarly search on the internet to find reported health statistics on the variable that you are measuring. For example, if you are measuring your total daily caloric intake, American Dietetic Association. Identify the source.
Submit your (2-3 pages) paper by the end of this module.
VARIABLE FROM Case 1 BELOW
I decided to track my water intake for this assignment and for the assignment the variable which will be tracked is the liters of water that I take each day. The units of measurement that will be used is liters and this is because it easier to use liters as opposed to the use of ounces. In measuring this variable, I used a water bottle to take water and the bottle has a capacity of two liters. The bottle of water is calibrated which made it possible for me to know what amount of water I consumed over time.
I tracked my water intake in liters for 5 days and recorded them in the table below.

The data collected shows that my water intake in liters per day ranges from between 1 to 2 liters which means that the lowest level of water taken is a liter while the highest is 2 liters. The recommended daily water intake is based on the weight and gender and from my analysis I am not taking enough water and need to take more water. Water intake is very important as it helps ensure that I am not dehydrated and since I am not taking enough water then I risk being dehydrated. Tracking water intake is important for me as it will help me come up with a plan of how I will increase my water intake.
Water is also very critical when it comes to digestion and this is because it improves bowel movements because it helps process fiber and it also helps prevent constipation. I also learned that taking water helps with weight management and making sure that one has the ideal weight for optimum health (Li & Wu, 2019). Taking more water will be helpful for me since by staying hydrated I will make sure that I eliminate toxins from my body (Ward et al., 2018). I have a plan of taking more water and I will achieve this by carrying a bottle of water with me at all times and adding lime to make water more palatable.
