Health Disparity, Target Population, and Justification

 

I decided to do Obesity among the age group 10 - 18 in Orlando, Florida (or Florida in general if possible). Looking at the data form a valuable source, Florida is rank the 8th place in 2018 for the state with obese children and teens between the age group of 10 - 18. The obese rate went from 12.6% in 2016 to 17.8% in 2018 which is a 5.2% increase.

 

Need for Health Promotion Program

· Obesity is a avoidable disorder

· The number of children and teens visiting doctors because of obesity can be reduced

· Obesity can lead to other diseases/disorders like diabetes and CVD

· Lack of physical programs could be part of the caused for the increase obese rate

 

Goal

By implementing a health program, our goal is to reduce the obesity rate among the age group of 10 - 18 in Florida and to promote a healthier lifestyle for this particular age group.

Rationale for the Organization  

The Healthiest Weight community purpose is to make the people of Florida aware of any obesity issues and alarm the people what will happen if nothing is done about it. The community also promote different obesity/weight loss programs to help promote children, teens, and adults to change their lifestyle for a healthier one.
