MACROECONOMICS PAPER ASSIGNMENT The Physicians for a National Health Program and Single Pay National Health Care Insurance

One of our country’s most significant microeconomic issues is health care reform and Obamacare. The Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP) is a non-profit organization of 20,000 physicians, medical students, and health professionals who support single-payer national health insurance, the health care position of Presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders and many in the Democratic Party. For this paper assignment, each student will review the PNHP website and write a TYPED paper of no more than 500 words with respect to the following:

- What is single payer health care? - What does PNHP consider the most serious health care spending problem? Why? - What are PNHP’s biggest problems with Obamacare? - How will single pay health care be paid for? - Do you agree with PNHP’s positions? If so, why? If not, why not?

When answering the above questions in your paper, use at least three of the concepts discussed in Chapter 24 of the text (Health Care) and by Professor Baird on 11/30. Grading will be based on your knowledge of PNHP’s position, addressing each of the above questions, the use of concepts in Chapter 24, and the thoughtfulness in arguing your position.
