ASSIGNMENT QUESTION
As an external consultant you have been asked to perform a PEST analysis to help make a decision about funding. Should the inner London borough invest a substantial amount of it’s funding to increase service user’s involvement in how services are commissioned and run?
Instructions:
It’s your role to research ONE of the following London boroughs/councils: Royal borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Wandsworth, Westminster or City of London. Look at the borough’s JSNA and their CCG plans and their website. Use these sources to decide if the borough is already encouraging service user involvement and question should they now increase the funding to expand this work?
Display five of your key research findings in each section of the PEST table. (Include the table in the assignment)
Write paragraphs about two of the key issues that you have highlighted (Two from each section of the PEST table)
Finally, you will make five recommendations based on your findings.
You must include references for all your research.
Follow the structure over the page

Political
Hackney CCG has stated it is committed to the vision that 10% of its services will involves service users in the commissioning and running of the organisations by next year, this was a commitment made in the CCG plan 7 years ago (2013) and yet still there are only a few organisations from health and care that are involving service users. The local council has had to consider its funding options carefully as funding has been reduced each year for the last 10 years (Hackney Budget 2016) it is argued by Beresford (2017) that the uncertainty about funding for social care has meant that councils, generally, have been focussed on cutting services to save money rather than taking action to involve service users in set up and running.
Second paragraph here about the second headline.
Social
The commissioning of services by the CCG has improved since the Health and Social Care Act of 2012. 2012 was when CCGS took over the funds from the health trusts to buy in services for the areas they served. Complaints though, are at a record level…
