Technology in Healthcare

Technology has aided administering of healthcare services in hospitals and healthcare centers. Different technologies have provided for faster, efficient and safest ways of treatments. Technologies have also helped to save lives among patients with chronic illnesses and emergency cases. This paper will explain the various appropriate technology needs that should be implemented in the healthcare center provided. The healthcare center being in the middle of the urban city provides many healthcare issues and problems that require appropriate technology tools. The technology equipment required in the healthcare center includes diagnostic, life support, treatment and medical laboratory equipments as explained below.

To begin with, the healthcare center being in the middle of a busy city requires diagnostic equipments to administer emergency treatments to patients. These equipments include the imaging machines such as X-ray machines and ultrasound scanners. These diagnostic equipments will help in diagnosing patients with emergency injuries from accidents and other cases. This will be appropriate since the hospital is in a largely populated and busy city that experiences many cases of accidents from roads. Patients with internal injuries require X-ray and ultrasound machines to take their internal images to assist in the treatment (Bellelli, Villarboito, Pepe & Medici, 2017). The available diagnostic equipments to help in this case are not enough to serve the many patients received by the healthcare center. Therefore, there is need to purchase and avail many medical imaging equipments in the healthcare center. In addition, availing such technology equipment will help to save lives in the healthcare center. Patients will also save money since the healthcare costs will be less compared to other private diagnostic services around. However, availing these equipments will be so expensive that will require millions to be implemented but this is worth it since they will save lives.

Beside this, another technology needs required in the healthcare center is the life support equipments. These equipments will be used to help in bodily functioning of patients in critical and chronic conditions. Such equipments include incubators, heart-lung machines and anesthetic machines. They will be helpful to assist in breathing and bodily functioning when patients fail to breath and function normally. This technology equipment is most appropriate in the healthcare since it experiences many cases of patients involve accident injuries. Most of these patients from accident injuries have difficulties in breathing and normal bodily functioning. They therefore require life support machines and equipments to help save their lives (Wood, 2016). Beside this, many patients with chronic diseases that include heart and lung failure from remote areas come to this healthcare center for treatment. This also requires that such life support equipments be availed in the healthcare center. Availing such machines will help to save lives of patients and increase people life spans.

Nevertheless, there is also the need to avail more medical laboratory equipments in the healthcare center as a technology need. These equipments include blood testing equipments and fluids to administer several tests in the laboratories. They will be used for small tests and blood analysis of patients to identify illnesses and diseases such individuals have. The equipments should be in high number since they are used for many patients. Most of patients in the healthcare center have small medical problems and diseases that require tests blood and fluid tests. Therefore, increasing laboratory equipments will help to identify and treat such diseases. To help preserve medical record of patients in the healthcare center, the staff needs to implement a clear record keeping and information system that captures and store medical records and details of the patients (Vahlberg, 2017). This will help to retrieve information readily for further analysis when patients come with other cases of illnesses. Availing such record keeping and storing technology equipment will help to treat chronic diseases that continue to be critical among patients. This is because the medical officers will easily review medical records of patients and recommend appropriate treatments.

More so, the healthcare center needs to establish an appropriate schedule for working hours. The chronic illnesses and treatments services will be administered throughout the day in twenty-four hours each day. The healthcare medical staff will have to establish a schedule such that a specified number of doctors will be available in the night hours to attend to critical conditions of patients who may be brought in the night. This will help to save more lives rather than wait for patients to get treatment during the day only something that might result to even worse conditions. Beside this, normal diseases and illnesses that are not critical will be attended to during the day from morning to evening hours except for inpatients (Dorsch, 2012). The healthcare center should also employ many medical staff to help reduce the ratio of doctor to patients. This will help in providing an efficient working system that serves in the planed schedule. The working hours may be hard to follow especially in cases where the number of patients increased. High number of patients in given seasons and occasions may force medical officers to work extra hours than stated. This may reduce their efficiency and accuracy and may result to worse treatment methods among patients. Therefore, to help follow the time schedule outlined by the healthcare center, there is need to increase the number of medical officers.

The above technology needs and equipments require department of the hospital corporation type. This type of corporation is most appropriate to engage medical officers and patients in the healthcare center. This is because the department of Hospital Corporation provides a platform to manage and organize the healthcare operations most efficiently. The technology equipments to be implemented in the healthcare center are most expensive and require millions. Therefore, there is need to have a clear and valid management of costs and finance in the healthcare to maintain and take care of such equipments (Vahlberg, 2017). The hospital type of corporation will include medical staff that will help purchase, maintain and be accountable for any loss associated with such equipments. This hospital type of corporation will also help to plan, implement and evaluate new changes to introduce in the healthcare centers.

In summary, technology equipments will help to fasten medical services in the healthcare center. These equipments will solve the needs and issues related to technology cases in the healthcare center. Equipments such as diagnostic and treatment equipments explained above are most appropriate to provide medical services in the healthcare since it is located in a busy city that experiences diverse disease conditions (Wood, 2016). The healthcare will provide high quality and efficient services if it implements the various technology equipments discussed.
