Placement tasks and activities

1. To obtain in-depth understanding of the aims and objectives, organisational structure and culture of the BAPTIST CARE NT.

· To acquire information about Foodbank NT and its relationship with Baptist Care NT and other organisations by working among the structure of organisational mission and vision.

· To obtain knowledge of organisational culture by congruous work environment.

· To have a better understanding of the services offered and familiarise with its organisational and cultural structure by working closely with the placement supervisor.

· Develop a better understanding of the organisation from the client’s point of view.

2. To comprehend how BAPTIST CARE NT operates their programs and how they coordinate with other agencies to carry out the services in the community.

· Evaluate and participate in each activity run by BAPTIST CARE NT like the Food for Life program or School program.

· Discuss with the supervisor/staff and processes involved at BAPTIST CARE NT fundraising activity.

· Create and maintain relationship with clients by constant interaction.

· Be updated with the events and plan activities of the organisation by interacting with both the supervisor and staff members.

3. Obtain and improve skills, capacity and knowledge in community development and understand the flow of activity from preparation(logistics) to actual community service in different communities.

· To develop exceptional communication, interpersonal and team building skills by

engaging with the clients while providing service delivery to them by applying the skills of good listening as well as with a non-judgemental and positive mindset.

· Observe the flow of activity by putting myself for the warehouse activity (handling the pallets, loading the shelves of the food pantry bus) and administrative works.

· Collaborate with warehouse staff members to maintain the standards of the products stored in the warehouse.

· Obtaining in-depth knowledge to operate the software used by the organisation for data collection from the warehouse and from the place of delivery with data integrity

4. To develop my skills and knowledge related to community events (involving in different tasks to improve my ability to work in minimal supervision)

· Achieving and attending all the tasks and activities allocated by BAPTIST CARE NT with the help of placement supervisor and recording them as a reflective journal.

· Evaluating and consulting the problems that come up while working with teams or alone when dealing with people in the community and trying to get the possible results or outcomes.

· Getting feedbacks from the supervisor by completing placement performance reviews to find out my progress and competencies in community activities.

· Hold the responsibilities on behalf of supervisor to do the activities and programs for Food for Life.

5. To identify and apply the service delivery system, code of ethics, and community engagement.

· Abide by the guidelines set by BAPTIST CARE NT with decency and transparency.

· Assessing service delivery system by applying organisational code of conducts.

· Following the guiding principle of the organisation while working on the field as well as in the office.

· Familiarising with BAPTIST CARE NT’s code of conducts to have a better understanding of situations that may pose ethical or moral issues.

· Interacting with people from different cultural background in and outside the organisation

· Dealing and establishing open lines of communication with people with different culture so they can share their point of views and opinion about BAPTIST CARE NT

· Making sure every client feels comfortable and is treated equally while providing direct services and finding out whether the services are proving beneficial to them.

· Maintain a safe and healthy work environment between volunteers and the client we work with.

6. Personal Development: Decision making skills and stress management.

· Learn to take decisions which will lead to solutions in accordance to the organisational guidelines.

· Observe and learn how the supervisor acts in tough situations and further assist him/her to dissolve any tension during service delivery.

· Identifying the internal and external factors of stress and practice to dissolve them in tough situations.

· Further identify the possible methods in which stress can be prevented and managed.
