What formats can we use for our group project ?: There are many different ways you can create these projects. Some acceptable formats are videos, websites, webcasts, podcasts, public service announcement/commercial, children’s book, comic book, infographics, etc. **NOTE: This is not an exhaustive list. I encourage you to be creative. Some tools that you all can use to create these various formats are listed at the end of the instructions.
Key elements:
1. The project must be in a medium that was, could, or will be distributed to the public.
2. The information presented in the project must come from evidence-based research (i.e., research articles, NOT news articles) and be cited in APA format.
Tools we can use to create our projects : Most of the suggested tools are free and can either be embedded into your Google Slides presentation or added as a hyperlink. You are not limited to these tools. These are only suggestions.
Video Projects: A Health Communication Campaign can come in many forms. Here are some suggestions:
• Commercial or public service announcement (animated or acted)
• Webcast of an interview with an expert on your chosen topic
• Recorded documentation of community service/outreach activities (e.g., public awareness campaign)
• An acted, produced, and directed video about a sleep topic (ex. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDsl5JMkBm4&feature=youtu.be)
Tools: ASU YouTube account, iMovie, Fuse, Animation video creators: PowToon, RawShorts, Biteable
Website: You could create a website about a sleep topic that would be helpful or informative to your target audience.
Tools: Adobe Sparks, Weebly, Wix, Google Sites
Podcast of discussion and interview(s) with experts on the chosen topic
Tools: Soundcloud, iTunes, GooglePlay
Other Visual Projects: A Community Sleep Visual Project can come in many forms. Here are some suggestions:
• children’s book
• comic book
• infographics
Tools: Storybird, Picture Book Maker, Adobe Illustrator, Google Drawings, SumoPaint, Canva Infographic Maker, Visualize, Google Developers, Easel.ly
Of course you could also do a Visual Project free-hand and scan.
