Purpose: This assignment is designed to assess your level of knowledge of the key topics

covered in this unit

Unit Learning Outcomes Assessed:

and integrating fresh ideas into the discourse in preparation for life-long learning

5. demonstrate the capacity to write persuasive reports containing sound

recommendations, in preparation for their career in business

Description: Each week students were provided with three tutorial questions of varying

degrees of difficulty. These tutorial questions are available in the Tutorial Folder for each week

on Blackboard. The Interactive Tutorials are designed to assist students with the process, skills

and knowledge to answer the provided tutorial questions. Your task is to answer a selection of

tutorial questions covered over Week 2 to Week 11 inclusive.

It is important when you answer the questions, you do not just copy and paste the answers from

other sources, but rather, try to paraphrase it and provide reference (in- text referencing) to

your answers. All references must be listed appropriately at the end of the report using Harvard

referencing style.

The questions to be answered are:

Question 1 Week 3 tutorial questions – Lecture 2 (7 marks)

Apply and discuss in 300 words the three-stage model of consumption to a consumer who is

making a decision on whether to go on a cruise liner or fly to a resort they have visited

previously for their vacation.

Question 2 Week 4 Tutorial Question – Lecture 3 (7 marks)

A small seaside town has a variety of franchised food outlets, two cinemas and a local theatre.

A new independently owned restaurant is setting up. Discuss in 300 words about the

information they should include when developing their positioning strategy?

Question 3 Week 5 Tutorial Question – Lecture 4 (7 marks)

Using the example of a postal service business, discuss how a supplementary service may be

transformed into a core product in 300 words with 2 references supported.

Question 4 Week 6 Tutorial Question – Lecture 5 (11 marks)

A university is setting up new courses and hoping to attract international students. What issues

need to be considered in developing a suitable international services distribution system?

Discuss in 500 words with 2 references supported

Question 5 Week 8 Tutorial Question – Lecture 7 (11 marks)

The development of a services marketing campaign needs a totally different approach to that

of a physical goods-based campaign. Discuss this concept and justify your answer in 500 words

with 2 references supported

Question 6 Week 11 Tutorial Questions – Lecture 10 (7 marks)

You are responsible for training a group of people who will be multi-tasking in a service

organisation. They will be required to act as both frontline employees and as telephone support

staff. What standards would you put in place to ensure the staff could provide an effective

customer service?

Submission Directions:

The assignment has to be submitted via Blackboard. Each student will be permitted one

submission to Blackboard only. Each student needs to ensure that the document submitted

is the correct one.

Academic Integrity

Academic honesty is highly valued at Holmes Institute. Students must always submit work that

represents their original words or ideas. If any words or ideas used in a class posting or

assignment submission do not represent the student’s original words or ideas, the student must

cite all relevant sources and make clear the extent to which such sources were used. Written

In addition, written assignments that are similar or identical to those of another student in the

class is also a violation of the Holmes Institute’s Academic Conduct and Integrity Policy. The

consequence for a violation of this policy can incur a range of penalties varying from a 50%

penalty through to suspension of enrolment. The penalty would be dependent on the extent of

academic misconduct and the student’s history of academic misconduct issues.
