Name Leadership Interview Project: 30 Points
Product You will conduct an interview with a person in the community who must be in a position of high leadership of an industry, a business, non-profit or government entity. The purpose of the interview is to compare the qualities and traits of this leader with those that you studied from the textbook as well as your research.
Rationale You will be studying many traits, characteristics, and models of leadership this semester. In studying these, you will see that many leaders have innate traits as well as learned abilities. These, along with their personality, diversity and work environment play a large role in the type of leader they are. During this interview, you should discern many of these. You will need this information so you can compare and contrast their leadership style with those that you have studied this semester. The study of the text, the discussions in class and your observations of this leader will give you a deeper understanding of leadership, thus gaining the ability to observe these leadership styles in others. This ability will give you a deeper understanding of people in leadership positions, providing better understanding and communication, allowing for better interaction. As you study these leaders, it is important to find out how they engage with and diagnose the needs of their followers.
Description You will set up an appointment with a community leader. You will write 7-10 questions that you will give the leader in advance so they can prepare for the interview. This person could be from government, business, industry, or civic organizations. The instructor will approve your leader selection and questions. Remember, using the results of these questions will give you the information needed to form your opinion as to their leadership style.

An explanation of the process from the initial contact through the interview itself Short bio of the person you interviewed 7-10 questions with their responses that lead you to your opinion of their leadership characteristics. The construct of these questions is key to obtaining the information you need. Your opinion paragraphs that explain your findings. You will compare the results of your questions and responses to those you studied from the textbook and researched to form your opinion as to their leadership style and the model(s) they use. A Microsoft PowerPoint presentation that contains: A live report to the class that explain your findings. This report presentation must be between nine – eleven minutes in length.

Presentation and Writing 15%

All writing in both the interview presentation and roundtable discussion is clear and well- organized, with no errors in APA format, grammar, spelling, or organization.
