Simulation Views

In the modern era, a simulation is said to be good when the simulators manage to acquire what they initially would have desired to get from a given target. As such, the evaluation and assessment of simulated work are often piloted by the anticipations, expectations, and experience of the society or the community that utilizes it. In particular, it is this idea that makes the community using it to view the most promising mechanisms for the assessment of the quality of a policy-modeling task. An evaluation of the three views for assessing simulation quality is paramount for the user community viewing the policy-modeling exercise.

Of the standard view, constructivist view, and the user community view, it is determinable that the last one would give the best quality assessment for the situation described. For example, the zoning exercise covers an area with 750,000 residents. There is the directive by the county commissioners and the zoning board to come up with a simulation which would best capture the different dynamic factors of this population that include education, race, age, and income status. From that, the standard view would be ineffective for the modeling exercise because it does not account for identical outputs (Janssen, Wimmer, & Deljoo, 2015). Ideally, the best quality assessments would be produced using the user community view because it is one of the most work-intensive mechanisms for the assessment of simulation quality (Ahrweiler & Gilbert, 2015). For the user community view, trusting the quality of simulations involves wholly trusting the method used for the production of results.

Ensuring the highest level of accuracy involves determining and understanding the relationship between accurate results and fidelity. In this case, fidelity is the degree or the realism of the similarity which exists between the operational situation in simulation and the training situation (Staff, 2015). Notably, functional and physical characteristics during training are the two measures of fidelity. As such, I would determine the accuracy of the simulation by manning these two measures to bring out the relationship between accuracy and fidelity and the whole interaction between the model, study team, and stakeholders.
