A paper for Human Resources Management in Healthcare class

1. Topic Health and safety training -- Workplace training focused on health and safety is most important in the healthcare industry. In workplaces with complex and potentially dangerous equipment, such as scalpels, syringes and X-ray machines, proper training is vital to keep employees and patients safe. It's also critical to track and have proof of that training to protect the organization from liability.

Each student will submit one 5-page paper (1 cover page; 3 pages of text; and 1 page for references). At least 3 references are to be included.

Each student is required to submit a summary (no longer than 1/2 page) identifying their chosen topic and descriptive paragraph or two to the instructor for approval on the due date noted

Paper & Project Submission Guidelines:

● The grading of papers and projects will be based upon the student’s diagnosis and analysis – and the quality and clarity of the writing. Correct grammar, typing, sentence structure, and syntax are crucial and are part of the grading process.

● Students are expected to present material in a business-like format. This is a research not opinion paper. Sources should be documented at the end of the paper in a format acceptable to GMU. The paper should be written as though the topic is being presented to all levels of employees in a health care organization including one’s managers at work. As is true in the business world, spelling, grammar and semantics do matter and will be considered in the grading. Students will be graded on their ability to make a cogent, concise, informative and interesting written presentation.

● Format for all written submissions: maximum margins of 1” and type size of Times Roman 12 point or Arial 11 point, single spaced (1.0). Some use of bullet and table formats are acceptable. Quotations are acceptable but should be used sparingly and be supportive to the student’s writing.

This is the summary that I’ve done for this paper. I will also past the outline that I did too. Feel free to use them but you don’t have to exactly follow them.

Health and safety training: in my paper, I will be addressing the requirements and the expectations of health and safety in the workplace. I would like to specify my analyzation in hospitals. According to The United States Department Of Labor, There are four main steps when it comes to health and safety training. Understanding the problem, safety and health management system, safe patient handling, preventing workplace violence. Each of these sections will have plenty of detailed information about it.

Managers are expected to be mentally in the workplace and to know how every single thing is functioning in the hospital environment. They also have to know if something is wrong with any of their employees. To do that first a manager must have a Hazard Identification such as chemical, biological, human factor, and physical hazard. Second, assessing risk which means knowing the consequences of the hazards. Third, controlling the risks (Health And Saftey Management In Healthcare,2010). There are other duties the employees are required to be responsible and collaborate with each other to maintain a safe and healthy workplace environment. Some other responsibilities, the employees to non- employees in the work environment (Health And Safety Management In Healthcare,2010).

In my paper, I will include lots of examples and descriptions of what must be done to maintain safety in the workplace.

This is a simple outline that I made. Feel free to add or take out from it. ( it’s all based on the provided websites at the end)
