Gun Control
Part 1
My topic is gun control; this appeals to me because I am an avid gun lover and a firm believer in owning guns. This topic interests me since it explains the complexities involved in handling guns. Also, guns offer an individual to defend themselves in case of an emergency or threat of life. My love for guns developed as a young kid when I used to see soldiers and actors control guns captivatingly and using them to save dire situations. My stance on this topic is that it is necessary for the security of people in society. Thus, the US government should allow ownership of guns for personal protection rather than imposing the restriction. To effectively use logos to persuade my audience to take an interest in my topic, I intend to refer to expert opinions about the importance of guns and the concept of gun control; more so, seeking statistics of past incidences that could be avoided by the knowledge of gun control to strengthen the relevance of the topic to the audience will effectively facilitate the use of logos. To use pathos, I will involve the audience's feelings by narrating an incident that reveals the importance of gun control. Ethos will effectively be achieved through finding relevant sources on the concept of gun control and suggest them to the audience.
Part 2
My audience is probably more worried about attacks and acts of terrorism more than me; I will strike my point by posing a rhetorical question to the audience; for instance, “Who knows the joy of saving lives with a gun and ability to use it? Or “What an innocent soul lost after being shot in an attack…” The hooking sentences suggested above are necessary for attracting the attention of the audience to the topic. I will establish ethos by revealing what it entailed me, and research that is done in this paper. What a demanding endeavor it was!
To introduce my main point, I will start by describing the overall features of a gun and various incidences where guns are relevant and can be used. I will then engage the audience in gun control's basic rules and acknowledge state laws and regulations about forearm ownership, licensing, and control.
The main focus will be the relevance of gun control and how the United States government is developing measures and strategies to support gun control; for instance, what efforts are our government implementing to enhance gun control? What does gun control entail, and what is it important? What are the pros and cons? Of gun control?
To effectively organize and outline these points well, I will employ several guiding questions which will lead me in explaining particular aspects of gun control.
I will acknowledge the opposing side by acknowledging the cons associated with gun control; for instance, gun control has not been effective in reducing the level of crime in the United States; therefore, gun-control rules imposed in the country are not effective, and there might need to develop other approaches too.
I will counter this argument by stating the advantages of gun control over its disadvantages. Researchers in the United States today indicate that most guns are used to protect guns rather than taking lives. Therefore, a significant number of people in the country own guns to protect their lives. Ending my presentation with a call of action will be met through stating my position on the topic and pinpointing gun control aspects that should be reviewed. Gun control has restricted gun ownership to some United States citizens and has led to increased crime levels. Besides, most gun owners possess guns to protect themselves in the country, thus combating crime effectively.
