Guidelines to Assessment 4: Project

Assessment task:

The purpose of this assessment is to allow students take on a management perspective to analyse organisational change and propose recommendations with

the aim of improving the situation. This project seeks to create a case study of an organization that requires a change intervention.

Students will be required to choose an organisation that they are familiar with and analyse it using relevant change management theories or frameworks to

identify areas where change is required. Relevant change intervention strategies are to be proposed.

The organisational change project covers the following I have also included links to suggested resources that will help you respond to that section of the

assessment:

the organisation.

This is also called a company profile or business profile and needs to

include the following information:

 Company name and how it started

 Industry they operate in

 Types of product/services they sell or nature of business

activities

 Consumer/customer/client profile

 Organisational/Management structure

2. Internal and

external analysis of

In order to do this you can do a SWOT Analysis, which identifies

both internal and external factors in a simple way.

You can do a PESTLE Analysis that analyses the external factor with

more detail. This will be more relevant if your ‘trigger for change’ is

external.

Note: Do not use your SWOT or PESTLE directly in your assessment

but use it as the basis of writing the relevant section in your paper.

3. Literature review –

Weeks 9 & 10 for the relevant theories.

Note: Work backwards when writing. Identify what your

recommended change strategies are going to be and limit your

literature review to those strategies only.

Make a recommendation on what strategies should be used in your

organisation. Provide details what recommendations you are

proposing and why are you proposing this and not an alternative.
