Describe the situation at Company X, the need for a research study, the purpose of your

proposal (which is to design a preliminary survey to investigate the issue). 1-2 paragraphs.

Conceptualization of Problem Drinking at Company X & Worker Productivity

Explain the importance of conceptualization and the challenges inherent in this concept. Outline

clearly all the issues that need clarification when defining problem drinking. 2-3 paragraphs

Explain what type of study you propose, the variables and WHY, and different ways indicators

may be identified. Give sample questions and draw directly from Schutt text. 2-3 paragraphs

Type of Study Proposed

Describe and justify the type of study to be carried out---qualitative, quantitative, mixed

methods, survey, interview etc. Note the difference between inductive and deductive and how

this is so. 2 paragraphs.

Activities, Ethics, and Timeline

Write an explicit description on how data may be sampled and from what population and why.

What is the sample size, what are the methods of collection? What are the ethical issues that

may be important to consider in conducting the research? 3-4 paragraphs.

Describe a tentative timeline (you may include a graph, calendar, or chart here if desired)

Make any last notes or suggestions to your supervisors in this section.
