Guidelines for the Essay Plan

Module title: Theories and Principles in Education, Teaching and Learning

This assessment DOES NOT carry any points.

General Guidance

Your Plan for Essay should be word processed (handwritten assignments are not accepted),

using Times New Roman, size 12, double spaced, with numbered pages and your student

number printed as a footer on every page.

The word limits stated for this assignment excludes the reference list at the end of the

assignment but includes all text in the main body of the assignment (including direct quotations,

in-text citations, footnotes, tables, diagrams and graphs).

The majority of references should come from primary sources (e.g., journal articles, conference

papers, reports, etc.) although you can also utilise area specific textbooks. You must ensure that

you use the Harvard style ofreferencing.

Please indicate the word count length at the end of your assignment.

Please note that you are required to submit an extended literature review project where you

will critically evaluate scholarly articles and books in order to answer specific research

questions.

NO STUDENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO COLLECT ANY PRIMARY DATA

Written assignment instructions:

A plan (please the template below) briefly mentioning the points that you will develop for your final assessment in week 8. You will need to mention each basic point in a few words (100-200 words) and provide the sources you will use to develop your points after you conduct your research on the two topics. Make sure to conduct your literature search for academic sources and then narrow them down to the ones that are useful for your essay to back up your arguments with valid information.

The main objectives of your final assessment in week 8 that you will need to develop further and base your plan on for this formative task are: Part 1: A summary discussing the different learning theories and principles in teaching and learning discussed in the course. Part 2: A critical evaluation of how different learning theories and principles in teaching and learning can influence curriculum design and assessment

Please remember that achievement and demonstration of both learning outcomes (1 and 3) is being assessed in this assessment.

IMPORTANT NOTES

 This is a task for you to prepare and conduct the pre-writing process

that will help you further with the writing process of your final assessment.

 After you submit your plan your tutor will provide their feedback and you can

resubmit if necessary.

 This task is NOT graded.
