Lab Report "Energy of a Tossed Ball"
GUIDELINES for the Scientific-style/Lab report paper. Manuscript (50-points scale, 10% of Final Grade) It must be typed, double spaced with embedded graphs and tables. It MUST include:

TITLE. Bold case. DO NOT use the name of the lab rather create something original based what you think is a description of the experiment. AUTHORS. The name of the student that writes the report followed by the rest of the group members separated by comas. (Format: First Name Middle Initial Last Name, …) INSTITUTION. Write “COLLEGE HERE” ABSTRACT. Bold case. Very brief summary of the paper. Divide your abstract into Purpose, Methods, Results and Discussion. Key words: Must follow the abstract list a few words or phrases that contain the most important aspects of your paper INTRODUCTION. Describe - Theoretical base of the experiment. - State your hypothesis. - Importance of the experiment. Include equations that will be tested. References must be cited here, example (Maxwell, 1881)
METHODS. Briefly explain how exactly your experiment was performed. There is no need for detail. Mention the equipment used and/or show image(s) of the experimental setup. RESULTS. Include (a) Results of measurements, tabulated where appropriate. (b) Tables must have column headings containing the quantity, or symbol representing it, plus (units) in parentheses. (c) Graphs where needed. Must use LoggerPro for all your graphs. Each graph should have a figure # and title. Axes must be labeled with the quantity plus (units) in parentheses. Embed each graph individually; do not include the data table from LoggerPro. (a), (b) and (c) should be clarified by interspersing a few words of description so that the report could be understood by an informed person, but one who is not necessarily familiar with the particular experiment being described. DISCUSSION. Explain the interpretation of your data and its relation to other studies. Present and describe sources of error. Suggest areas in which the experiment can be improved. Include a final conclusion of your results (example “From this we might conclude that…” ACKNOWLEDGMENTS. Include the name of people or contributed to the work. Include: “Supported by ARCOS, a U.S. Department of Education grant. REFERENCES. Bibliography must be cited in the body of the manuscript (Introduction, Discussion, etc) cite original papers only.
