multigenerational interview
GSV Intern to-do list: Week #9
As last week, the tasks highlighted in yellow are the top priority. I have also put deadlines for each task in red. Let me know if you have any questions.
(#1) Support the Health and Wellness Committee by continuing to write educational 'Health Tips' for the GSV monthly newsletter and working on an on-line health and wellness class to align with the interests of GSV members.
***NO TASKS FOR THIS SECTION FOR THIS WEEK***
(#2) Complete research and fundraising by supporting GSV's search for fundraising and grant opportunities and efforts.
***NO TASKS FOR THIS SECTION FOR THIS WEEK***
(#3) Support the planning and execution of virtual events. By helping my supervisor to secure speakers and other activities for future events.
· Further develop the dance program plan
· Your initial work on your program was great but we need to get a little more specific as it is coming up. Here are tasks to do that:
· (1) Create a powerpoint presentation (either on Google Slides or Microsoft PowerPoint) and start compiling your data (for the educational portion) into a couple of slides.
· Don’t worry about the design, just the content
· You have good stats on benefits for elder adults but also find some stats on overall benefits
· When inserting your fact, put the source behind it -- for example, “A benefit of dancing is blah blah (Source #1)”
· (2) Find dance videos that you will be taking inspiration from for the interactive part of the program
· You did a good job finding some music option but the most important part is the dance portion you will be leading.
· We need to have a better idea of the types of dances you will be leading others in. Please compile a list of instructional dance videos that will be similar to what you are trying.
· All of this program planning should be done by Thursday October 14th. I want to make sure we are on the right track and so we can have a meeting before the weekend to discuss all of this.
· Promote our upcoming events
· We have a bunch of events coming up in the next couple of months and we want to make sure people know about them, register and attend.
· I will send you the fliers, registration links, and more information about each program by Wednesday or Thursday. Once I send you that information, please start reaching out to
· Different Villages
· People in your networks from your program
· Any other places that would be helpful to share
· This will be a continual process but start sending emails by Sunday October 17th.
(#4) Improve and maintain the functioning of the Village website and social media pages by keeping the website up to date, looking for ways to enhance the web site with new features, doing a search of other web site platforms to determine what necessary website changes the Village needs, and making contributions to the GSV Facebook page.
· Update the Website Calendar
· This was not done from last week. This should be done as soon as possible, let me know if you need anything.
· I “trained” you on how to do this. That was a bit ago so let me know if you still remember how to do this. I can give you a quick refresher if needed.
· You can use our Groups IO public calendar as a guide for language and information. You can access it here: https://greaterstonegatevillage.groups.io/g/Main/calendar?calstart=2021-11-05
· You can also look at how I have formatted past events.
· Please update the calendar with all of the following October events:
· The walking group's hours have changed (this is a recurring event that is set as 8-9am but please change it to 9-10am)
· The book club
· The movie club
· The men's lunch group
· The Let's Dance program
· Also add our November 5th event on hints for good sleep
· Investigate and contact different villages to get more information about other Villages that use the Run My Village/Club Express Platform
· This is one of the tasks that emerged from our last website meeting.
· Start by looking into the following Villages/organizations
· Silver Spring Village
· Little Falls Village
· WAVE (Washington Area Village Exchange)
· When you are doing this, start by looking at each Village’s website to find more information about their website design and features. If this is not clear, then contact someone from that Village by email or phone to find more information on the following information:
· How have they built out the design of their website?
· What tools or resources were helpful in developing their website?
· What are their favorite and least favorite features of the Run My Village / Club Express platform?
· Anything else you think necessary for Jane, you and I have done.
· This may be an ongoing project but for the purposes of this week, send me a typed list of your findings from each Village by Sunday October 17th.
· Make a priority list of Facebook updates
· This task is from last week too. You did send me some information on facebook but I’m afraid my instructions weren't clear.
· To clarify, what I am asking you to do is:
· Look at the GSV Facebook page (link here: https://www.facebook.com/greaterstonegatevillage ).
· Then, see what information is out of date or what needs to be changed on the GSV page. Make the list in order from most urgent changes to less urgent changes
· Let me know if this makes better sense.
· Please type up a to-do list (very informal) of the edits that need to be done to the Facebook page in order of most urgent to least urgent and send to me by Sunday October 17th.
