Week 1: Group Roles and Twitter Introduce yourself to your production group that has been randomly created with your class peers. Discuss the roles that are part of any social media team: I’m the Social Media Analyst.

Week 2: Project Website As a group, work together to create a WordPress blog for your production team which will serve as your project’s website. Our website called the BIG BUZZ, which aim to raise awareness of Bee Conservation as an environmental concern.

Week 3 Audience Analysis This week, your team will need to source industry reports on your target audience and other industry watchdogs as starting points). Based on these reports, identify the users of your group project and describe them on your Website – age, gender, location(s), and their media preferences such as different times of the day that they are likely to use social media platforms, for example.

Week 4 Create YouTube Channel As a team, create a YouTube account. You should work together to create a YouTube profile for your team. Add a profile picture, banner and bio to the YouTube account. Then, create 5 private (unlisted) short videos (one video per person in your team) of around 1 minute each, that demonstrate how you can use video memes to create community around your project.

Week 6 Elevator Pitch This week you are required to meet with your production team via Zoom to discuss your groups’ social media campaign( The big buzz). At the end of this meeting, you will create a 3 – 5 minute ‘elevator’ style pitch video using the record feature in Zoom. Each member must speak for at least 30 seconds to a minute from the position of their role within the production team.

Week 7 Data, design & dissemination

Create accounts on Instagram for your team. Ensure that your Instagram account is public. Like previous weeks, your team’s Instagram account should include a profile pic and short bio. Next, use Canva to create 4-5 images (1 image per person in the team) suitable for Instagram that you could use for your social media campaign. Add these to your team’s Instagram profile. With each image describe a brief rationale, how it conveys the key message, distribution methods (time of posting), and any hashtags used. Use the research on your target audience conducted in week 3 to inform this rationale.

Week 8 Facebook Create a Facebook group for your team. The name of the group needs to be your production group’s name. You should include a profile image, a banner image, and description of your group. You may wish to use Canva to generate images. Then, on your group’s Facebook page, each member of your team should contribute an example post related to your social media campaign, drawing on the literature from this week that describes self-branding on social media. Consider how you can incorporate your campaign’s central message, while incorporating cultural intermediation concepts.

Week 9 TikTok and Social Influencers Create an account on TikTok for your team.  Like previous weeks, create a profile for your team including image, and bio. Crate 5 posts (one per person) related to your campaign with a brief rationale describing the key message, distribution method, and how this engages your target audience.

Week 10 WeChat and Digital Agencies We realise that some students are not comfortable creating WeChat accounts. However, it is important to understand social platforms that are not from our own Western perspectives. So if you are not OK with WeChat, you are free to look at other non-Western platforms like Line or Signal or Telegram, please follow the instructions below but use your preferred platform.

Week 11 Content Calendar As a team, create a content calendar for four to five weeks (depending on your group size) that reflects your team’s social media project.

Each member is responsible for scheduling content for one week each. At a minimum, you should demonstrate how you would schedule the content that you have created on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, WeChat, Twitter, and YouTube. Additionally, you should schedule in other content not created yet.
