Objective/Overview: The group project is design to provide additional learning of information technology and its effect on business practices. Each group will research an information systems technology and provide an oral presentation.

Guidelines

Topics to be covered

· Identify and describe the technology

· How is used in business?

· How has it changed business?

· What was utilized in the past to perform this task?

· Has the technology replaced another technology or was it newly created?

· How did it benefit the business (cost, efficiency, etc.)?

· Can the technology be used to create or further a strategic advantage?

· Does the technology create any ethical/privacy issues?

· Are there any risks associated with the technology?

· Does the technology create any security issues?

· What is the future of the technology

· Is it likely to expand?

· Is it likely to become obsolete over time?

· Do you envision that it will be improved?

· Other?

Presentation

· Each member is expected to present part of the research findings - 5 minutes minimum per member (Note: If using video clips, the time for the video does not count)

· Presented on the day indicated on the course schedule

· Must include at least 1 video clip showing the technology in use

· Grading will be based on the following:

· Ability to describe the technology

· Depth of description versus too “techie”

· Equitable knowledge of members

· Appropriate coverage of areas listed above

· Ability to interest the audience

· Cohesiveness of group (doesn’t look thrown together the night before)
