Budget Proposal for Los Angeles Crime Control
There are four major areas where additional funds can be allocated to reduce the rate and scale of crime experienced on Los Angeles streets. First, the rate of police patrols needs to be increased twofold, meaning that sufficient funds will be allocated to the police department to enable them to patrol in pairs. This move will increase their efficiency in handling various crimes on the street. Second, all areas and buildings used by criminals will be identified and marked to paint them with anti-crime graffiti. Natural colors will be used to ensure that images are permanent and durable. Since homelessness is a significant cause or precursor of crime, social workers, together with the police, will be scrambled to identify all homelessness cases in Los Angeles to determine how the affected members (those more vulnerable) can be assisted. Finally, since abandoned buildings are most used for criminal activities, funds will be allocated to social workers and the police department to identify them. Once identified, the better one will be renovated to provide affordable homes for the homeless while the rest will be flattened, and the space used to create recreational parks. The money will be spent as follows.
