Group Peer Review of a Research Essay
One of the things I learned about researching Generation Z and technology. They need it too the point that it feels like they’ll die without it, metaphorically speaking. These days kids have mobiles phones by a certain age and that would be by the age 10 to 12 with mobile services with it. There’s a chart that shows why parents give kids a cell phone before the age of 13. Ninety percent says so they can reach out to them, while also ninety percent can reach out to the parents as well. However, there are two other reasons that they have on here which is really interesting to know. Sixty-five percent says they wanted to get a phone with technology on it while the sixty-two percent says “cover additional lines.” It also shows concern as well because it shows that the children will be too hook on to their devices and they can’t watch the kids twenty-four seven, so they don’t know what kind of stuff they might be exploring, so it puts the kids and parents in a fifty-fifty situation. On the other hand, kids most of the time will probably spend the time on their devices playing games, watching cartoons or even just downloading video game apps that they like to past the time.
Generation Z’s also a tend to use social apps a lot like Youtube, and thanks to the huge popularity of social networking. What’s really interesting that Generation Z’s second most used app is Gmail or just emailing in general. According to the charts from. (eMarketer, September 22, 2016.) Most of teens from Generation Z use their Gmail more than Instagram, Snapchat or even Facebook. Which is actually surprising because those three apps are the most used apps because everyone uses it. Apparently as well, Youtube popular names on the site have such big influence to the younger teens these days. Apparently, 17.5 million users.
Generation Z spend most up to 11 hours on social media per day. An online rating for high school and college students show that Generation Z students uses mostly Instagram and Snapchat eighty percent of the time compared to Facebook. They’ll be doing things like creating videos, sharing images and stories more than anything else. Seventy-eight percent students say they use Snapchat daily compared to the other social media apps. (Michael Cherenson, SCG’s executive vice president says. ““With students – mostly GenZ – using up to five different screens over the course of the day and evening, it should be of no surprise that they are not married to just one platform,” They also feel like students would feel disconnected from friends without their social media, which says a lot since they communicate with their companions a lot. On the positive note, they look at videos that catches their attention like for example. They’ll look at Behind the scenes, and How-to videos. It seems that these apps are a way of storytelling for Generation Z.
It’s crazy how things like the internet was one of the kick starters of transforming the Generation that we see today. Technology always changes throughout the year, changing your behavior, and showing different expectations than you usually see before. Thirty-eight percent of children who are two-years old already know how to play a mobile video game, watch videos, or use other media apps. Another interesting thing about Generation Z, they have a “do it yourself” mentality, along with realistic goals, and even being a hard worker by showing their work ethics on stuff on what they can do. They’ll come in with a driven work set mind and they originally get it from the source of their parents.
Digital communication plays such a huge roll in the digital era now these days. Socials apps like Facebook doesn’t have an age requirement, so anyone at any age can join. It doesn’t help that you can lie about your age just on that site, but on any site just so you can create an account and communicate with your friends. People have been lying about their ages since the days of Myspace and the other old apps. It’s fascinating that Millennials were the pioneers of the digital era, but Generation Z showed they were the true digital era and natives. They also on a daily base use screens like TV’s, laptops, or gaming devices to utilize their time.
Another thing about Generation Z is that growing weary and they want to grow and desire to a truer life on the network. They use apps like Snapchat for such things for a better connection for the honest users. Generation Z priories are to honest, and send authentic messaging from friends, leaders and employees. Their influencers from it was Instagram and Snapchat, which is really surprising.
Generation Z also uses other social medias apps like blogging platforms, Twitter, Tumblr, which helps them provide a platform to share their ideas worldwide, showing their passion and pride on the ideas they have in stored for the future. Like it or not, but Generation Z are the creators, contributors, and the collaborators of the technology and it’s empowered them to voice personal problems in ways because there are so many apps, that it’s hard to ignore the problem like it was in the past due to the lack of technology or digital apps weren’t has popular or good as it is now.
Generation Z isn’t the type to wait for the opportunities but they rather go out, grab or even chase after it. During their high school year, teens will start to focus on their careers, compete for their internships, and jobs for the future. They’re so eager to start their full-time careers. According to Ryan Jenkins, "How Generation Z Uses Technology and Social Media," Proof Industries. Eighty-three percent of students today would stay at their first job for about three years or less then use websites like “Glassdoor.com” to make sure their next job and employer is the perfect fit for them.
