What is Pica?

Diagnosis of pica is made when
eating nonfood substances is
developmentally inappropriate.
Usually, it is after the age of 2
(APA, 2013).
There is no test for pica.
The onset of PICA is mostly in
childhood but can occur even in
adolescents or adults (APA, 2013).
How is it diagnosed?
The prevalence of pica among chool-aged children in the general population was 4% (CDC, 2019).
