- Project Location: Westmead to Carlingford via Parramatta CBD
- Project Introduction around 200 words: Parramatta Light Rail is a major NSW government infrastructure project which is being developed to assist with the growing population of Sydney. Parramatta Light Rail has been split up into two stages of construction - stage one involves building a light rail system between Westmead and Carlingford, going via the Parramatta CBD. Stage two of this project will connect stage one to Western Sydney, including Ermington and Olympic Park however, this is currently under review by the NSW government to be constructed in the future. Construction began in 2018, with enabling works being done to minimise the disruption to traffic which will occur because of the construction works. Stage one is due to open to the public in 2023. The budget for stage one of the project is $2.4 billion. A project of this size has many key stakeholders and affected parties. These include the local community, local businesses, Westmead Hospital, Western Sydney University, Parramatta Council, and the NSW government. Thousands of people will benefit from the Parramatta Light Rail because of the high frequency network that is being developed.
