Graphic of Proportional
Here are the steps to take:
1) Choose ONE variable to analyze such as general Students w/ disabilities, or more specific exceptionalities such as Gifted or Emotional Disturbed. (Again, students w/ Disabilities is preferred--but I'll be flexible).
2) Now choose TWO groups such as ELLs, gender, socioeconomic status or race.
3) Collect data in numbers or percentages. Be sure to indicate the SOURCE of your data. Where did you get these data? Your data may be at the classroom, school or district level.
4) Graph these data to reflect proportionality such as differences by race into placement into gifted or out-of-school suspensions by socioeconomic status.
5) Analyze your findings and conclusions in two well-constructed paragraphs (one per graph). Be sure to cite specific numbers/percentages & comparisons and conclusions based on your findings.
