Exercise 2: Pie Chart

Pie chart: A pie chart (or a circle chart) is a circular statistical graphic, which is divided into slices to illustrate numerical proportion.

In a pie chart, the arc length of each slice (and consequently its central angle and area), is proportional to the quantity it represents.

Pie charts represent a whole amount that equals 100%. If you were to add up the percentages of each sector, it would equal 100%.

Exercise 2: Pie Chart

Pro-tip:

There's a small number of slices.

If your data has more than 10 or so slices, that's probably too many.

Bad use of pie-chart

Exercise 2: Pie Chart

Step 1: Decide what dimension you want to graph

Step 2: Count number of post by dimension by creating a pivot chart

Exercise 2: Pareto Chart

Pareto chart: A type of chart that contains both bars and a line graph, where individual values are represented in descending order by bars, and the cumulative total is represented by the line.

Exercise 2: Run Chart

Run chart: A run chart is a line graph of data plotted over time.

By collecting and charting data over time, you can find trends or patterns in the process.
