Methodology
Program Description
Arts and Music is becoming an essential part of children’s lives. Having an Arts and Music center will provide children in the neighborhood with a safe place that they can go to. The center will be opened for everyone in the community. The center will give people a place where they can freely express themselves and affect the well-being of the community as a whole (RialtoArtsCenter, 2017). The center will be separated into five sections that include; Library, dance hall, art room, Gym, and music room. Furthermore, the center will enable people from all over to connect through their mutual love for Music. Establishing such a center within the community guarantees to bring harmony in the community as well as creating a space where the social meeting can also be held.
Research Design
The configuration chosen for the Arts and Music center program is the technical approach that blends both quantitative and subjective research. The technique is also known as the blended technique approach (Gitlin & Lyons, 2014). I will encompass the grounded theory approach in that I will interview people within the community to know how an Arts and Music center will impact their lives and determine the various suggestions they might have. The application of quantitative research will enable me to collect accurate data regarding the center (Apuke, 2017). I chose these techniques as it allowed assimilation of interviewees such that the center would be designed to meet their needs and provide me with a certain amount of data that showcases the importance of such a center to the community.
Human Subjects
The research will incorporate 250 teens aged between 10-18 years. It will take approximately two months for us to gather information, and that will include four months pre-test and a one-year post-test. All participants will be residents of those specific communities, and their opinions will be highly regarded. As they are still underage, their parents or guardians will be present during the interviews. After approval has been given, the participants and their parents will be educated on how the data collected will be used, including the protection of their privacy. Data will then be encrypted and stored in our database (Gitlin & Lyons, 2014). They will also be enlightened about the advantages and disadvantages of taking part in the research.
Study Validity and Reliability
Research question such as the importance of Arts and Music center to the community, what they would like the center to stand for, what would make them go to the center in the first place, what they think of such a center, and how they expect the center to help them will govern all illustrations of validity gathered in reports. Validation estimates indicate the propositions collected from the interview questions (Gitlin & Lyons, 2014). However, resolute quality is never guaranteed as results will only be visible after a specified duration. For instance, different researchers performing the same research as I am, are bound to deliver different results (Gitlin & Lyons, 2014). Therefore, though the information may be substantial and unreliable, our exploitation will sometimes assist in determining the Arts and Music program results.
Assumptions and Limitations
The research relies heavily on the teens' reaction to having such a center in the community and how it will be beneficial to them and the community. Nevertheless, some individuals may be opposed to having such a program and might term it as time wastage. As an examiner, my significant role was to talk to both the guardians and the teens and agree on ways to ensure the program remains beneficial to them. According to Gitlin & Lyon (2014), it is essential to include both parties in my interview instead of using the subjective technique.
Timeline
The society today is full of suspicious activities that impact the lives of young people negatively (SecureTeen, 2016). Study reveals that teens are easily influenced by societal norms and are bound to be rebellious. Each day methodologies that will ensure they remain morally upright thus establishments such as the center are built. During holidays, teens have a lot of free time and tend to get into trouble countless times.
Evaluation Plan
During the dominant month of the program's implementation, Americans for the Arts (AFTA) will deliberate on the challenges facing the youth and the impacts they have on them and the community at large. Working together with the community, activities that will facilitate the meeting will be conducted to authorize data to specialists. As the program is being built, the mayor, youth organization department, and the Interagency Working Group on Youth Programs (IWGYP) will combine with us to find extensive measures that will prove to be fundamental to the youth. After completion, the center will be able to accommodate over 60 teens, and adjustments will be made regarding the feedback given.
Non Personal Resources
Supplies include internet providers through AT & T Services, workstations, and gadgets required for symmetry. Temporary workers' transport will be paid at a rate of $40 per mile.
Personal Resources
Our team at the Arts and Music center will include program coordinator, program manager, receptionist, a librarian, an art teacher, and a dance teacher who will guide the teens in the center.
Management Plan
The program manager will be in charge of overseeing the program. She will ensure the programs and activities adhere to the center's objectives. She will also develop a budget that will ensure things run smoothly. Lastly, she is responsible for ensuring the executive team and directors know how the program is running.
