1) Brief overview of theorist
Immanuel Kant
Immanuel Kant was a german philosopher. He was born on April 22, 1724, in a Prussian German family. Kant was best known for his work in philosophy of ethics and metaphysics. Kant was one of the most foremost thinkers of the Enlightenment and arguably one of the greatest philosophers of all time. Besides establishing himself as one of the prominent Western philosophers, Kant also made an essential contribution to science and is considered one of the most important figures(theories) in the development of modern science even though he was most interested in philosophy of science and knowledge that science produces.
He won many prizes as the Berlin academy prize in 1754, for his arguments on the moon's gravity. In universal natural history, Kant laid out the nebular hypothesis. He deduced that the solar system had formed from a large cloud of a gas nebula; this hypothesis was critical or the central thesis for the solar system. Kant died on February 12, 1804.
2.Details of theory.
Deontological ethical theory
Kantian deontology is one of three classic moral theories, among virtue ethics and consequentialism. The term deontology was derived from the Greek word deon, which means DUTY. The theory of deontology states that we are morally obligated to act following a particular set of principles and rules regardless of the outcome. Hence, deontology is concerned with behaving ethically by meeting our duties.
First, Kant argues that to act morally, people must act from duty. Second, kand asserted has consequences of actions that make them right or wrong but the motives of any person who carries out the actions.
In religious deontology, the principles derive from the divine commandment. Under religious laws, we are morally obligated not to steal, lie, or cheat Immanuel Kant, the theory’s celebrated proponent, formulated the most influential form of a secular deontological moral theory in 1788. Unlike religious deontological theories, the rules (or maxims) in Kant’s deontological theory derive from human reason.
Deontology says that certain types of action are right or wrong. How do we distinguish kinds of activity? For example, a person may kill someone else. A description of the action is a killing. But not all killings are the same type of action, morally speaking. If the person intended to kill someone, i.e., what they wanted to do was different, then if the killing was accidental or only intended to defend themselves against an attack. Actions are the results of choices, and choices are made for a reason with a purpose in mind. To understand Kant's moral philosophy, we need to study some terms. First, Kant believed that whenever we make any decisions, we act on a maxim maxims were his versions of intentions.
The goodwill
Kant begins arguments by reflecting on whether anything done is morally good or not. For instance, intelligence and self-control are good, but they can enable someone to do clever pr difficult bad things.
Duty
Kant argues that to have goodwill is to be motivated by our duty. So, we shall act by task.
3. Clinical significance
There are many applications of dentology for research purposes. For example, consider a research study involving children who have not met legal age yet. A typical research procedure will involve having a parent or a guardian's consent and children's asset as well if he/she is able to understand it or not. An ethical dilemma arises when a parent gives their grand consent, but the children deny it. If Kant's deontology ethics be used here, the answer shall be no. A clinical-based application of Kant's ethical theory to client care involves disclosing medical errors to clients.
4. Example
For instance, if I was suffering from any communicable disease and went to a doctor or anesthesiologist, he can not deny to anesthetize me; instead, he can take all the precautions and protect himself by certain safeguards his duty to cure me.
Another best example based on this theory can be peer pressure or a reminder of the commitment of anyone's duty.
