Content and Organization  70 Percent

· Assignments should represent the team’s careful, thoughtful efforts to cover the key elements of the topic thoroughly. Content should go beyond mere description or paraphrasing. The work should be thematic and based on an analytical framework of the team’s choosing that covers the content description for the assignment.

· All assignments must demonstrate a unique, creative approach to the research topic and represent the original work of the student members of the team.

· Assignments should display the team’s understanding of the history of management, and reference theories and concepts relevant to the topic. Students should form their arguments by taking competing concepts and theories into account.

· Assignments should be grounded in appropriate, adequate, and timely academic literature. No specific number of sources is prescribed, but those used should represent the best available scholarly references on the topic. Newspapers, mass market publications (except business press or human resource management publications), Wikipedia, and non-peer-reviewed articles are not appropriate references for scholarly work.

· Papers should contribute substantive value to the understanding of the subject.

· All assignments must be written in the third person (i.e., he, she, it, they, etc.); adhere closely to word count requirements where instructed, and include a minimum of scholarly source references, including peer-reviewed (scholarly) articles. Course text books are NOT included in this count. Be sure to include a separate “List of References” or “Works Cited” page.

Readability and Style  15 Percent

· Assignments should present ideas in a clear manner and with a strong organizational structure. Coverage of facts, arguments, and conclusions should be logically related and consistent.

· Paragraph transitions are present and logical and maintain flow throughout the paper.

· Each paragraph begins with strong topic sentences that encompass what the entire paragraph discusses.

· Paragraphs are at least three sentences and no more than seven sentences.

· The tone is appropriate to the content and assignment.

· Sentences are complete, clear, and concise.

· Sentences are well-constructed, with consistently strong, varied sentences.

· Sentence transitions are present and maintain the flow of thought.

· Headings are not required, but may be included.

· All papers should have a Title Page and page numbers. Do NOT number the Title Page.

· All papers must have a “List of References” or “Works Cited” page.

· Assignments must be double spaced, 1” margins, Times New Roman or Courier New, 12 point black type.

Mechanics 15 Percent

· The rules governing the grammar and usage of standard American English must be followed, and language should be clear and precise.

· All written assignments are to be written in APA format. The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA Style Manual)-5th edition or later.
